Move from Weebly to VibeHost
Weebly is closing in 67 countries on September 27, 2026. See the full country list, all three deadlines, and how to import your site — free, no export files.
Weebly (owned by Square) announced on June 20, 2026 that it is closing in 67 countries. If your account is in one of them, three dates matter:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| June 29, 2026 | New page publishing disabled (already in effect) |
| September 27, 2026 | Sites go offline — visitors see nothing |
| December 26, 2026 | Accounts permanently deleted, content and domains included |
Domain transfers require an active account and can take days — the safe window to act is now, not December. For the full background on the announcement, see Is Weebly shutting down? on the blog.
Dates and country list verified July 6, 2026, from Square's announcement thread.
The 67 affected countries
Most coverage only names a few countries. This is the complete list from the announcement:
Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, South Korea, Iceland, Barbados, Colombia, Chile, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Serbia, Egypt, Ecuador, Peru, Cambodia, Jordan, Kenya, Bahamas, Uruguay, Oman, Morocco, Tanzania, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mauritius, Bahrain, Aruba, Zambia, Bangladesh, Georgia, Laos, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, French Polynesia, Azerbaijan, New Caledonia, Zimbabwe, Armenia, Paraguay, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Russia, Belarus, Algeria, Andorra, Benin, Suriname, Palau, Gabon, Ghana, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Ethiopia, Tajikistan, Uganda, Guinea, Congo.
Not on the list: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and nearly all of Western Europe (only Iceland and Andorra are affected). If that's you, there's no deadline — but Weebly is in maintenance mode: no new features in over a year, the mobile app removed from stores, and users being steered toward Square Online. The steps below apply whenever you decide to move.
Your options, honestly compared
| Option | Time | What you end up with |
|---|---|---|
| VibeHost import | ~1 minute | Your site live at a new address, free plan |
| Square Online rebuild | Hours | A store-first builder tied to Square payments — awkward for blogs and portfolios |
| WordPress migration | Hours–days | Full control, but Weebly's export contains Weebly-specific code and needs manual cleanup |
What the VibeHost importer does
The importer works from your live site's URL — no export files, no ZIP archives. It crawls your published pages, copies the HTML and images, and deploys them as a static app in your workspace. Most sites finish in about a minute.
- What carries over: pages, text, images, and internal links
- What doesn't: Weebly-hosted widgets — contact forms, slideshows, store checkout — those run on Weebly's servers and can't be copied. For most sites, everything visitors read and see survives the move.
Steps
- Sign in (or create a free account — the free plan covers this, no credit card)
- In your workspace, open Apps → Create and choose Import from Weebly
- Paste your site's address, like
https://yoursite.weebly.com - Confirm the site is yours — the importer requires a declaration that you own the site or have permission to move it
- The import runs — pages and images are copied and deployed. Your site is live at
<name>-<workspace>.vibehost.space
From there it's a normal VibeHost app: edit and redeploy it, or point a custom domain at it.
Before you leave Weebly
- Download Weebly's archive as insurance. In the Weebly editor: Settings → Archive → enter your email. The ZIP isn't a clean import format, but it's your backup copy.
- Move your domain early if it's registered through Weebly/Square. Transfers need an active account and can take days — don't wait for December.
- Replace embedded forms. If your site had a Weebly contact form, add a replacement after import (a
mailto:link or any form service).
FAQ
Is Weebly shutting down completely?
No. Weebly is closing in 67 countries — sites there go offline September 27, 2026, and accounts close December 26, 2026. In the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and most of Western Europe, Weebly continues to operate in maintenance mode.
Is the import really free?
Yes. VibeHost's free plan covers importing and hosting your site — no credit card required.
Will my forms and online store move over?
No — those run on Weebly's servers and can't be copied. Your pages, text, and images all come across. If your site is mostly content (most Weebly sites are), the visible site survives intact.
What about my domain name?
Once your site is on VibeHost you can connect your own domain. If the domain is registered through Weebly or Square, start the transfer early — it needs an active account and can take days.
